Indosat & Wadhwani launch AI training for Indonesian youth

Yesterday

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Wadhwani Foundation have launched an artificial intelligence-based training initiative to support Indonesian youth in preparing for the workforce.

The new training feature will be available via Indosat's myIM3 app and Tri's bima+ app, turning the popular platforms into tools for learning and personal development tailored to current industry requirements. The offering is designed to be accessible from urban and rural areas, providing equal opportunity for young people throughout Indonesia to build and refine their digital skills.

This collaboration responds to Indonesia's recent statistical data, indicating that more than 7.4 million job seekers are looking for employment. The launch hopes to address the substantial demand for new opportunities and skillsets, supporting youth seeking positions in a competitive market while contributing to the goals outlined in Indonesia Vision 2045.

Indosat's two prominent brands, IM3 and Tri, will promote the new platform to their audiences. IM3 will embed the training feature into its Collabonation programme, while Tri will incorporate it within its Generasi Happy initiative. Both initiatives aim to further engage young users and encourage participation in the training modules offered.

Vikram Sinha, President, Director, and Chief Executive Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, commented on the launch, "The youth are key to building an inclusive and sustainable future. At Indosat, we believe that no one should be left behind. With this initiative, we are committed to developing the digital skills of Indonesians, wherever they are. This aligns with Indosat's larger goal of empowering Indonesia."

The training modules accessible through myIM3 and bima+ cover various topics, including soft skills development, job readiness, and AI-powered tools. The initiative targets job seekers, entrepreneurs, and young professionals to help them remain competitive within the job market. By providing these additional services, Indosat seeks to enhance its digital ecosystem and deliver greater value to its customers, extending the function of its applications beyond telecommunication services to include industry-relevant learning and self-development.

Indosat and Wadhwani Foundation's joint effort also includes strengthening partnerships with universities and secondary schools across Indonesia. The objective is to support students in acquiring digital competencies and shaping their pathways to employment.

Ajay Kela, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wadhwani Foundation, said, "Over two decades since its inception in 2001, the foundation with worldwide presence has focused on a simple, powerful mission: accelerating job growth and enabling millions to earn a family-sustaining wage and lead a dignified life."

"The collaboration with Indosat is a tangible manifestation of our commitment to create social change through skills empowerment through Wadhwani Skilling Network (WSN) and entrepreneurship through Wadhwani Entrepreneurship Network (WEN). We believe that digital empowerment must reach the wider community, and technology is key to making that happen. The collaboration with Indosat allows us to reach millions of users directly and provide access to learning easily, quickly, and effectively."

The Wadhwani Foundation provides AI-based upskilling programmes—JobRise and JobReady—without charge, available in both English and Bahasa Indonesia. These programmes emphasise soft skills, offer support from facilitators, and include features such as simulations and opportunities for in-person collaboration. In addition, the Foundation's WEN initiative supports young entrepreneurs with advice and strategies for business development. These programmes align with wider national policy agendas, including Asta Cita's third pillar, which focuses on advancing quality jobs and entrepreneurship under Indonesia's 2045 Golden Vision framework.

Indosat's collaboration with the Wadhwani Foundation aims to strengthen the digital economy and better prepare Indonesian youth for ongoing changes in technology and the workplace.
